During the Malibu unveiling event, Dave Christ spoke about Toyota's strategy to diversify its product lineup and expand electrified powertrains across the brand — including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and turbocharged hybrid configurations.

He also referenced several major vehicle launches that set the stage for the Crown Signia's introduction:

🔑 Cedric's Pro Tip — The Crown Signia Is Toyota's Premium Hybrid Crossover

The Crown Signia sits between traditional Toyota SUVs and Lexus models — closer to the Lexus RX in ride quality and interior feel, but at a Toyota price point. For buyers who want a more premium experience without crossing into Lexus territory, it's worth a serious look. Think of it as a Lexus RX alternative with Toyota reliability and hybrid efficiency baked in from the factory.

From the Floor

The Crown Signia is a genuinely nice vehicle — solid body lines, spacious interior, very good power, smooth ride. It really is a Lexus in Toyota clothing, and I mean that as a compliment. The refinement is there.

But I'm always going to keep it real with you: I think Toyota made a mistake discontinuing the Avalon for the Crown. That's my personal opinion and I'll stand on it. The Avalon had a core, loyal following that was built over decades. From what I saw having Crowns on the lot, a lot of those Avalon buyers didn't automatically transfer that loyalty to a new nameplate. The Crown is a good car — but it's not the Avalon, and those customers knew it.

Maybe the Crown earns that following over time. It's still early. But I'd have kept the Avalon going alongside it rather than replacing it. Some nameplates are worth preserving.
